A Green Pepper Couscous Castle

What is this?

Can you guess what these photos are?

While exploring green peppers, students used the ProScope,  a hand held microscope, to examine the peppers and captured these photos. The first image is of the inside of a pepper and the second is of a seed.

Investigating Tomatoes

In science we are investigating several different fruits and vegetables. Here we are cutting open a tomato! We wonder what will be inside? What does it taste like?

Notes for Wednesday, November 3

After being away from the students for a few days, it was a joy to simply stand back and watch how well they function as a group, treating each other with respect and kindness. I think I was able to appreciate the growth more due to not being in the midst of the classroom for a few days. Just two months into school and there's such a wonderful family feel, and also a sense of work and purpose that is truly delightful for a teacher to see.

Notes for November 1, 2010

One of our themes this month is being thankful. To practice being thankful I asked students to share one thing they were thankful for. The answers were all about the people in our class!

Every student said that they were thankful for friends in the class and many named a specific thing their friend did which made them appreciate that person. You can ask your child who she (or he) was thankful for!

Welcome!
